“ Bery happy to have learned about Fife's, older interior, cafeteria style, meat n vegetables. The Staff members were very friendly and helpful on our first visit there. It was late in the afternoon when we went, so they were out of somethings but that didn't really limit our choices. We choose country fried steak n gravy, rice and greens, and 2 smothered pork chop and vegetable. The meats were super tender and then vegetables season properly. And for dessert, we all 3 got banana pudding. The servings are really big and take out boxes available. I reheated the pork chop the next day for lunch. If you're downtown and looking for a meat and veggies, this is the place! ”

“ Always a good time when I come here it's my family and get to eat. They've changed a few things around like gotten rid of real plates and forks, now they use styrofoam which is good for them to save on dishes but it's gotta be expensive, takes up room and crowds the tables quickly. I really love the smoked sausage and it's what I always get. This is an old school mom & pop place so don't go expecting fancy stuff. It's good food, good people and good prices. ”
“ NOBODY STACKS UP TO YOU! Courtney and I have been looking for a greasy spoon type diner/resturant for I can't tell you how long. We've searched high and low, but finally someone had suggested we come to Fifes for Breakfast and we knew this was the right spot for sure. Located in Downtown part of Birmingham this hole in the wall type resturant has no frills about it what so ever, but it turned out to be exactly what we have been looking for all this time and it was right under our noses. Service was a little slow, but it was a little busy for a Friday morning so we understood. The interior has tons of table and booth seating, it is definitely a watering hole for Birmingham natives and newbies too, you just need to know where to look to find a spot like this. Their breakfast menu is simple. Eggs, bacon or sausage as well as pancakes the size of your head. Courtney got the egg plate with cheesy eggs and grits and I got the pancake. One pancake was the perfect size for me, anything more would be too big. I'd like to go out on a limb and say, this is one the best pancakes I've ever had. Therefore, nothing compares to Fifes. We will definitely be back. The food, service and ambience are definitely right up our alley. If you are looking for a greasy spoon type resturant or diner, Fifes is the spot for you. ”
“ Place is old school as you can get. Delicious food, great and fast service. The fish is amazing. Candied yams are to die for, all the veggies are seasoned like they should be, the macaroni and cheese is just like your grandmother would make and service is just top notch. Prices are affordable and worth every penny. Can't wait to go back! ”
